Le Romantique Tag…

Happy Saturday!  I did a bit of creating today so I thought I would share with you the tag that I made for a friend…

This is the #8-sized shipping tag die that is by Tim Holtz.  It mades a really nice size for altering and doing whatever you’d like to it.

These gorgeous flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts as well as the butterfly and the faux rhinestone ribbon slider.

The papers are from the Le Romantique range by Graphic 45.  One of my favorite paper collections of all time! Each of the pages are so pretty.

I die cut the butterfly using the Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Sizzix die using fabric from SaCrafter’s store on Zibbet (I don’t have the link, but just as you would with etsy, you can type in her store name with Zibbet.

Hope you like it, and if you would like to see me creating this tag, you can check out the 10+ minute YouTube video below, or go directly to my YouTube channel HERE.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free, otherwise thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. xx

Quick Valentine Tutorial

I have a super easy valentine card to share with you today as well as a tutorial for how I created it.  I hope you find it helpful.

Cute Valentine Card

It was dark when I took the photos, so they are a bit darker than I’d like, but it couldn’t be helped.  The cute little conversation hearts are from I Brake for Stamps HERE.

Open Valentine

The grosgrain ribbon is by American Crafts – I think it’s just so sweet.

Open ValentineThis little coupon is available through I Brake for Stamps.  It is called (appropriately) Love Coupon. I made it removable as you can see below.  The coupon could also be given with a gift card for an extra nice Valentine.

Ticket out of Valentine card

I love how this stamp was made with the little “dips” (wow I’m technical aren’t I?!) on the top and bottom so that they fit fit perfectly in the slots created with my punch.  (2 photos up)

TUTORIAL FOR HOW TO CREATE IT:

Here’s what I used: (but substitutions can be made based on what you have on hand)

Brown cardstock (cut to 6 1/2″ x 3 1/4″) scored at 3 1/2″along the landscape side.

Pink textured cardstock cut to 5″ x 5″ and one cut at 3″ x 4  1/8″ (2 separate pieces)

Scrap White or Cream cardstock approximately 4″ x 2 1/2″ and one measuring about 2″ x 2″

Ribbon: Valentine’s Day themed or Brown

Stamps: I Brake for Stamps: Conversation Hearts, Love Coupon (Save 10% when ordering these by using my discount: SAVE10ROBYN)

Punches: Slot punch, Slit punch or X-acto knife, and a Heart punch (or die cut)

1/8″ Hole punch or Crop-o-dile

Bone Folder

Safety pin (just for embellishing)

Die Cutting Machine and Scalloped circle die ( I used Sizzix Scallop Circle but Nesties also has a great one)

TUTORIAL/DIRECTIONS:

- Burnish your brown cardstock on the 3  1/4″ score line that you created down the center.

- Run your pink cardstock through your die cutting machine with the textured side down to create your scalloped circle.

- Fold and burnish your scalloped circle directly in half lining up the scallops upon folding.

- Take your hole punch or Crop-o-dile and punch through both layers in the center of each of the scallops all the way around.

- Apply adhesive to one side of the half-circle on the back side of your scalloped circle as you will be adhering it the the back of your brown card.

- Using a slit punch or with an X-acto knife cut a slit in the center front and back of your pink piece.  This will be used to slide the ribbon through as shown in the photos above.

- With the opening of your brown card facing up, line up the pink scalloped piece so that it folds over the opening to create a “handbag” type opening.  Once it is lined up left to right and the score line on your scalloped piece is lying along the opening of your brown card you can adhere the scalloped piece to the brown card (on the back only).  Please refer to photos above to see placement of your ribbon and then attach the safety pin (for decorative purposes only).

- Stamp and color your Conversation Hearts embellishment.  Cut closely around edges and adhere to the front of your card.

- Cut out small hearts from scrap pink and brown cardstock and attach to the front of your card on the scalloped piece.

- With the card open and the scalloped piece to the right of you. You will now create the card insert and coupon.

- On your larger scrap piece of white or cream cardstock; stamp and trim your coupon. (You can skip this part if you are adding a gift card).

- For the pink insert piece of cardstock, take your 3″ x 4 1/8″ piece and with the coupon or gift card centered on (but not adhered) to  it – cut your slits on the top and bottom.  (See sample card above)

- Remove the coupon or gift card and then carefully add adhesive to the back of the pink insert while being careful not to adhere the area where the slits are.  Adhere onto inside right of brown card (with the pink scalloped piece still on the right).

- Re-insert your coupon or gift card.

- You can also add an insert piece to the left side of the card by cutting a pink piece that measures 3″ x 4 1/8″ where you can add a sentiment or note.

- Just close up your card, tie the ribbon in a simple knot and you’re done!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial.  Please feel free to print a free pdf of this tutorial that I have created for you HERE.

Vellum Tape Technique Tutorial

Hello ladies,
Here is the promised tutorial for the vellum flower that I did during Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas: Day 3. If you recall, I didn’t have his tissue tape, so had improvised by creating my own. You can see it here.  If you’d like to see Tim’s post for that day, you can see it by clicking here.

I also used this “vellum tape” to create a lovely pleated ribbon for the bottom of my tag HERE.

Sorry for such a quick post today, it’s super late and if I don’t get to bed in the next few minutes my hubby said I’d turn into a pumpkin.   I have a lot more to share with you, so will be back tomorrow.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  (((Hugs)))

12 Tags of Christmas: Day 6

I’m playing along with Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas 2010.  This is day #6.  Once again, out of necessity, I made a fair amount of substitutions in creating my tag, but  I really like the colors Tim chose for this one .  I tend to lean towards the muted colors better.

We’re at the half-way point today.  I’m so happy that I’ve been able to keep up with the posts.  Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments.  I’m glad to hear that you are not getting tired of seeing these tags.  I’ll keep on posting them then.

Here’s my interpretation of Tim’s tag:

Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas day 6

For my tree, I’ve used a new release Marianne Creatables die.  I cut it from a manila folder and then Glimmer Misted it using Sea Glass, Olive Vine, and Honeydew.  The way the colors blended it made it look more authentic, I think.  I added some snow-tex to the branches.  I did the reindeer according to Tim’s post, but I used regular acrylic paint to give him the blue color.  For the bottom, instead of the tissue tape, I’ve once again used vellum that I stamped onto using a musical note stamp and cut into strips.  The stamped snow is just acrylic paint that I’ve added Polar White Flower Soft to.

Tim Holtz Day 6 of 12 tags of Christmas

I just had to get a close-up of the tag background.  I love it SO much.  :c)  It was kind of a ‘happy accident’ that created it.  I didn’t have his flourish stamp or his texture fade so I decided to just die cut the tree (as mentioned above) and then stamp onto my tag directly.  I used the Stampin’ Up! Baroque die with Sepia Adirondak ink that I stamped in 4th generation* around the tag. I then sprayed Sea Glass Glimmer Mist (GM) onto it and the GM leached onto the ink from the stamp.  Its really beautiful in real life.  I need to make a note of this technique so I don’t forget about it.  I like the effect a lot.

*4th generation stamping is simply inking up your stamp, then stamping onto scrap paper 3 times.  Then using the remaining ink that is left on your stamp you stamp onto your project.  You don’t stop to reink between stampings so it creates a lighter shade of ink for a subtle finish.

If you like the look of the homemade vellum tape but would like more details on how I made it, please feel free to leave a comment and I can do a tutorial on how I created it.

Just popping in with a quick tutorial that some of you may find useful. I share how I mount my unmounted rubber stamps onto a product called EZ Mount.

You can purchase EZ Mount  here. (SAVE10ROBYN discount code too) :c)  This is a video tutorial, but if you would like to see a written tutorial, simply leave me a comment.  I know some of you do not have a way of watching the videos.
