12 Tags of Christmas: Day 3
I’m playing along with Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas 2010. This is day #3.
Hello Everyone and a very happy Friday to each of you. I’m back with my second post of the day to share my take on Day 3 of the 12 tags of Christmas by Tim Holtz. I had a chance to play a little bit this evening and was able to get caught up with Tim’s post.
Once again, I’ve improvised my way through another tag, but having a ball in the process. My craft room was a wreck though after I’d finished the two tags today.
Here’s my Day 3 tag:

This was probably the most fun tag for me of the 3 so far. I have found it to be a real challenge for me to copy-cat create. The tags are outside of my normal creating style so it has stretched me; which has been fun.

One of the things I’ve improvised on was the use of Tim’s tissue tape. I don’t have any, so what I did was stamp my musical note stamp onto vellum and once dry, I cut it into 3/4″ wide by 11″ long strips. It worked very easily to create the flower that Tim used.

I mentioned above that I don’t have Tim’s tissue tape. If you followed his post for this tag, you know that he also used the tissue tape for the collage on the bird as well. What I did to improvise on this was to stamp the musical note stamp onto glossy white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then alcohol inked the sheet (4″ x 6″). I cut the sheet in cattywampus strips and then adhered them onto a piece of chipboard in collage-fashion. I die cut the bird and then added Stickles as per Tim’s tag. The evergreen tree stamp that I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!’s “Lovely as a Tree” set. The little tag at the bottom is from the Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas sheet that I got this past summer.
Here is the man himself’s tag:
Thanks for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. Can’t wait to see the next tag challenge. xx
12 Tags of Christmas: Day 2
I’m playing along with Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas 2010. This is day #2.
Hello Lovelies,
I’m back today to share my interpretation of Tim Holtz’s Day 2 tag for his 12 Tags of Christmas 2010. This one was a pretty quick tag.
Here is my interpretation (well…actually my improvisation since I once again didn’t have several of the things he used).

I used just what I had on-hand to try and re-create what he shared on his blog. I was reading a gals blog yesterday and for Day 1 she said she made 2 separate trips out to scrapbook stores to get the needed supplies and traveled several hours to several different stores to find just what Tim used on his tags – she wanted hers to be exact. She did a great job on them. That’s one dedicated gal! :c)

Here’s Tim’s tag:

That’s it for today. His day 3 tag looks pretty simple, so I’m hoping to have time to work on that later this evening. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I truly appreciate it. xx
12 Tags of Christmas: Day 1
I’m playing along with Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas 2010. This is day #1.
Thank you so very much to each of you who e-mailed or left a comment on my daughter’s birthday. She was so excited to read each of your birthday greetings. It meant a lot to me as well. I truly appreciate each of you who take the time to visit my blog, but especially those of you who go the extra mile to leave a kind word. They are such an encouragement and a joy to read. (((Hugs)))
Well, to many of you who follow Tim Holtz’s blog, you know that on December 1 he started his annual 12-Tags of Christmas posts. I finally had time this afternoon to play along by creating the “Day 1″ tag. You can visit his site here to see what all the hubbub is about. :c)
Here is my interpretation of Day 1′s tag:

I didn’t have a lot of the products that he used, so I simply improvised…and recruited my sweet hubby to do some drawing for me. :c) He drew the house as well as the picket fence for me. I wish you could see more of the house, he really made it looks like Tim’s die. I distressed it and added white flocking as well as Polar White Flower Soft to make the snow on the house. To the fence, I added textured snow-tex paint and added some Dazzling Diamonds on it to really make it sparkle.
I distressed the #8 shipping tag as per Tim’s tutorial. I didn’t have his wreath, so I used my Martha Stewart pine needle punch and created my own. :c) He used a Prima trig for his tree; which I didn’t have so I raided a bush in my back garden. lol

I’ve used a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called “Winter Post” for the Dec 25 tag, and a set called “Snow Swirled” for the snowflakes. The tag took a lot longer than I wished it would have. There were a lot of different techniques and wait time for things to dry. It was a lot of fun to create though. I’m hoping to play along on as many tags as I can. This tag also goes along with the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show – Tags, and a 12 tag challenge over at Artistic Stamper and Artyjen.
The tag created by ‘himself’:

Thanks for stopping by today. I really do appreciate it. Hope you’re having a good week. xx
Noel Tag…

I have a crafty little project to share with you today. It’s a #8-sized shipping tag that I’ve decked out using some gorgeous BoBunny Christmas papers from the Noel collection, and really pretty Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.
HELLLLO Lovelies! I am so happy to say that as of last night, I am caught up on my must-do list! Woohoo! The 3 kids all had massive amounts of school work that we had to send to the States for their 9-week mid-terms, so on top of an already busy, busy time, this made schedules really hectic. I was so glad to send of their tests, records, and things yesterday! Whew, I can breathe easier for another 9 weeks. :c) There are only about 3 of you that know of some really busy things that our family has been doing, all good, but crazy-busy! Finally, I can say, “I’m back to my ‘normal’ routine of things!”
That being said, my photos went a bit darker on some, sorry about that. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Here is a little ‘update’ video:
I’ll be working on getting caught up on my e-mails over the next couple of days, thank you for your patience. I truly appreciate you ladies. Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. :c) xx
Vintage Christmas Gifts: Tag Album
Here is yet another Vintage Christmas little gift idea for your to create. It is a tag mini book. You can add photos, holiday wishes, special quotes, Christmas wish list…the ideas are only limited by one’s imagination.

I created it using the Nesties Label #14 die and simply cut out and decorate the card stock tags. You can use any binding you’d like to create a neat little customizable gift for Christmas or it can be adapted to suit any holiday or occasion.
3-D tag…
I’ve created this 3-D tag using Prima papers from the Watercolor paper line as well as the Tim Holtz “Caged Bird” Sizzix die. I used grunge paper so that I could made the bird cage dimensional. More details below…

I haven’t posted a tag in a while (I don’t make that many really). So, I thought this was a good week to share one with you. I made it for my DT post. This month’s kit was all about Prima and Tattered Angels! Yummy!! The tag is using the #8 (Tim Holtz fav. size) shipping tag; which I backed with chipboard to make it more durable.

First, I sprayed it with Pashmina, Pink Taffy, and Delphinium Glimmer Mist. Then I stamped and heat embossed a gold lace border using the Tattered Angels/Heidi Swapp Rockin’ Renaissance stamp set. I also used a dictionary stamp from the same set (behind the bird), and distressed the edges of my tag with my edging tool and randomly painted on Broken China Distress Crackle paint. I added some gorgeous Prima papers from the kit across the center and top of the tag. I die cut the birdcage using Grunge Board so I could make it 3-dimensional. Can you see the cute little bird? He’s decked out in Prima paper and a matching feather with a gem for an eye.
I hope you like it and that it inspires you in your own crafting. I know with summer here, it’s hard to stay inside! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I am always grateful when you visit my little spot online. ♥
Have a weekend! xx
