12 Tags of Christmas…Day 9

I’m playing along with Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of Christmas 2010, and here we are at day 9 already.  It is my first year playing along and I am having such a great time creating all of these tags.  First, I just want to say a huge thank you for the sweet comments about my hunny’s  help yesterday.  He and I have both really enjoyed reading your comments and e-mails.  (((Hugs))) (from me not him). LOL

I was so WOWed by Tim’s tag today.  I love the vintage feel and the balance of the metal and feminine. (I mean that in a nice way Tim).  The pearls, tulle, embellies, rosette…all spell Y-U-M in my book.  Yet it has a Tim/guy-ish balance.    Anyway, enough rambling…here’s my take on his tag for today.

Day 9 of 12 Tags of Christmas

Once again, you’ll notice that there are quite a few things I had to improvise on.  The background paper is actually a photocopy from my song book. (I told you the other day that I LOVE to sing).  Tim used a song sheet of   “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” to stage his photo, so that was the song that I used as my background paper.   I know…it’s goin’ a little “out there” in Tim wanna-be-ville land.

Hmmm, let’s see…I didn’t have the rosette die (but that was an easy one), or the tinsel trim, accoutrements, Upon a Time die, coredinations paper, charms…you get the idea.   So basically all I had the same as Tim was the tag and brads for this one.  It was a fun tag to work on…I love the challenge.

Day 9 rosette

Here’s a close-up of my flower…you wouldn’t believe how many buttons I had to go through to find this “perfect” one. :c)

Day 9-my charms

Day 9 Buttons

I pieced together these buttons by adding the gold do-dad to the sage button and I cut the loop off of a tree charm and attached it to a clear button. (More time spent in my button collection) Havin’ Fun though…

Day 9 Brads and font

I’m only showing you a close-up of the brads to give my daughter, Kendalle, a little “whoot!”  I didn’t have his textured hammer, so she gave me a suggestion for distressing these brads and I took her suggestion.  My crafting is turning into a family-effort these days. :c)  Lovin’ it and still havin’ fun. :c)  The letter’s I used are from an old Sizzix font that I’ve had for years, and to improvise the paper (I didn’t have the cordinations) I used the 7-Gypsies Avignon paper that I’ve been hoarding since June.  I liked that it carried through the music theme.

Here is Tim’s Day 9 tag:

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I really do appreciate it and your comments have been very much appreciated.  Hope you’re having a wonderful week.

Oh, if you’d like to easily take a look at the other tags that I’ve made, there is a pull-down menu above under the “Gallery” tab in the header where you can see them.

Thanks for visiting. xx

You, are quite simply a genius, I am enjoying your posts as much as Tim’s. Have been pinching ideas left right and centre from your excellent site. I live in Cornwall in England so I often have to improvise on the Tim Things as well. Hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas indeed

How sweet that all your family are taking such an interest, Kendalles idea was obviously a good one because the brads turned out just like Tims and I love your little doodads, the christmas tree charm especially, beautiful rosette and background – thanks for sharing xxx

Very pretty. I am really enjoying your version of these tags. I like your letters better. I think Tim’s are a little dark and heavy. It’s so wonderful that your whole family is getting involved and having fun with this. :)

I have really been enjoying your take on the Tags! It has helped me see my supplies and how they can be used to create a very similar effect! Thanks so much! If you have a chance, could you give a brief explanation of how your husband created the mask for yesterday’s tag, i.e. what products he used, etc. Also, what did your daughter use to create the dented brads? I don’t have the hammer either but love the effect of the hammered “nails”!
Thanks so much for the inspiration YEAR ROUND!
